mindfulness, stress reduction, and self-care

The following programs are offered at different times throughout the year.

NEW! Walking Meditation Group: This ongoing group is just beginning to take shape! We’ll bring together the practice of mindful walking and the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, forest medicine. We’ll meet at the Grove of Old Trees in West Sonoma County; share a short reading; walk together through the redwoods; and close with a few quiet words. A growing body of literature supports the comprehensive health benefits of exposure to nature and green environments. Learn more about shinrin-yoku here. Learn more about this group here.

NEW! Private Mindfulness Coaching: Private coaching is available for teachers, parents, and counselors, and also for children and teens. By learning and practicing mindfulness yourself, you’ll be better equipped to create a mindful classroom, home, or workplace. Coaching sessions can also be done walking, at the beach, or on a forest path in West Sonoma County. Growing evidence supports the efficacy of the “walk and talk,” particularly in outdoor settings.

IT’S BACK! Sebastopol Meditation Group:  This ongoing group for adults meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month, from 6:30 - 8:00 pm, and is grounded in the work of  Thich Nhat Hanh whose core teaching is mindfulness.  We share sitting and walking meditation, a reading, discussion, and tea.  There is not cost to attend this group.  Donations are accepted.  Please inquire for the location. Facilitators: Nathaniel Vose, Linda Clopton, and Chelsea True

Mindful Educators Alliance:  The Mindful Educators Alliance (MEA) aims to bring educators, counselors, parents and anyone working with youth together into a community of practice.  We offer retreats throughout the San Francisco Bay Area with a focus on cultivating and deepening personal practice before teaching or sharing mindfulness with youth.  Previous events have taken place at the Sonoma County Office of Education, the Napa County Office of Education, and at the Marin Headlands. Upcoming dates TBA soon!

Parenting as Practice: This four-session series aims to create a space for parents to pause together in the midst of busy family lives; to begin or deepen a meditation practice; and to explore practices that can support our inner wisdom in parenting to come through in our daily lives.  Cost: $80 for the series.  $20 per session drop-in.  Location: Stone Creek Zen Center, 2999 Bowen St. Graton, CA.  Facilitators: Dojin Sarah Emerson and Chelsea True.  Upcoming dates TBA.
