We have an important funding request. To help our mindfulness program at Bayside Martin Luther King Jr. Academy continue to thrive, we need your help!

We are happy to report that, with the support of many people, students and teachers at BMLK are discovering how integrate essential practices for health and well-being into the classroom.

We began with an opt-in, “teacher-first”approach, listening to the teachers, understanding their needs, and discovering if mindfulness might be a support to them. We are now serving students, support staff, and faculty in grades TK, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Bayside Martin Luther King Jr. Academy is a small a Pre-K through 8th Grade school, where 91% of students identify as people of color from low-income families, located within the otherwise affluent community of Marin County.

As we have worked to spread the word about BMLK, we’ve learned that many people in the North Bay are unaware that a community of color exists in Marin County. We invite you to learn about the history of Marin City and how children and young people are working together to cultivate lasting strengths.

While we wish for all children to benefit from mindfulness, our highest goal is to bring this potentially life-changing training into schools where the community’s social and economic needs are the greatest, and in many cases, critical.

We have an important funding request for a project taking place at Bayside Martin Luther King Jr. Academy in Marin City, CA in grades Pre-K-8.  

The program meets weekly; utilizes trauma-informed and evidence-based curriculum; and builds the capacity for the school to independently sustain ongoing outcomes.

As the Principal at Bayside MLK, I can’t say enough good things regarding the work that Chelsea has provided to our school in the area of mindfulness. I am seeing evidence of the skills she is teaching our students and staff throughout our school – in the classrooms, in our multipurpose room, in our school office, and even in our hallways.
